GM Agegroups 2018 Summary
Posted by Nobody on 23 March 2018
Over 2 weekends in March, some of our CL1 & CL2 swimmers were hard at it, competing in the Greater Manchester Agegroups gala. For those of you who are unaware, this is quite a large event, attracting clubs from all over the region. This year we had 8 of our swimmers compete. For our hardened Squad swimmers it was like any other gala, but for some, it was their first ever official ranking gala. That said little nerves were on show as they took to competing like our more experienced swimmers. Awards were presented to the top 6 in each agegroup, and we were delighted that two of our swimmers came away with rewards
Natalya - (2) bronze medals, (4) 4th place penants, (1) 5th place penant, (1) 6th place penant
Scarlett - (1) 6th place penant (great result in a tough 200IM event, and her first external gala for Radcliffe)
As great as it is to receive these, the main thing is getting out there and racing the main opponent, the clock. Beating personal best times and moving up the ranking ladder has got to be the most important element. Every single swimmer, over the course of the event, beat some, or all of their personal best times. This is a true triumph
Swimmer | Events Entered | PB's acheived |
---|---|---|
Sam | 11 | 11 |
Natalya | 8 | 8 |
Katelyn | 3 | 3 |
Oliver | 6 | 3 |
Jenson | 2 | 2 |
Scarlett | 2 | 2 |
Olivia | 2 | 2 |
Isabel | 6 | 1 |
To do this does not come easy, everyone of the swimmers had to put everything into every swim, taking all the experience and practice in training, and then putting it into practice on the day. Every single swimmer that took part should be extremely proud of themselves.
Before we close, there is also one further special call out. Natalya in the 100m Freestyle broke an all time Radcliffe ranking record that has stood for 9yrs and in the 50m Backstroke, broke the Radcliffe Ranking record that has stood for 10yrs.
