Club Volunteers

Radcliffe Swimming and Water Polo Club relies heavily on its army of Volunteers to run the club. In recent months the club has been aware that some parents and swimmers were under the impression that some of the Volunteers such as Teachers and Coaches are paid roles within the club. All Teachers, Coaches, Club Officials and other helpers run the club purely on a Voluntary basis with all funds generated going back into the club for equipment, pool hire and training of Teachers and Coaches. Without the excellent work and dedication these people put into the various roles, the club simply would not exist. As you will no doubt appreciate the club has over the last 2 years endured some extremely challenging times with the closure of the old pool. During this time the Volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure that the difficulties were overcome with as few issues as possible. It also goes without saying that without you as parents and swimmers the club would also not exist and for this we thank you for your continued support during these times. We have now stabilised and are looking to get back to where we were before the issues arose with the old pool.
The club is looking for any parents that may be interested in taking up roles within the club such collecting money off swimmers on entry, teaching (course and qualification paid by the Club), roles within the Committee with current vacancies for a Welfare Officer and Competitions Secretary. Should anyone be interested in assisting then please speak to one of the Club Officials.
As you are no doubt aware the new pool at Radcliffe has provided both the younger swimmers (Stage 1 and 2) and the Teachers with some challenges. The pool is deeper than the teaching pool at Radcliffe which has resulted in a loss of confidence for some swimmers whilst others have rose superbly to the challenge. The safety of our swimmers is paramount and as such can we ask you as parents to provide the necessary support to the teachers to ensure that all swimmers adhere to the safety rules and that they listen to the instructions the Teachers are providing. This will assist all and hopefully you will see major improvements in your child’s progress. If you have any concerns about your child’s progress please do not hesitate to discuss the matter further with their Teacher.
