Announcement of our new Competition Levels
Posted by Nobody on 22 March 2018
Further to our email correspondence regarding the changes to the Junior and Senior groups, we would like to take this opportunity to expand our rational as to why we are making the changes, what it means going forward and to answer some questions that have come in to us.
Some of you may be aware that our club has a new head coach, who brings with him a wealth of knowledge in swim coaching of all levels. As a club we are delighted to have him on-board. Since joining he has viewed all the training groups to assess the levels of performance within the groups. Feedback to the club was extremely positive, our early stages are progressing well and our Junior & Senior swimmers, show that we have some real talent. To develop further the talent we have, we intend to build the training platforms to progress the swimmers to be the best they can be. With this in mind, we are remodelling our Junior and Senior groups. Going forward there will be two new groups that replace the existing.
The new groups will be
· Competitive Level 1 - CL1
· Competitive Level 2 - CL2
It is the goal of the club to really nurture our raw talent and hone it to have our swimmers competing at a multitude of levels. We already have County and Regional level swimmers within our groups. With the commitment from the coaching staff, parents and swimmers, we would like to get as many swimmers prepared and ready to compete at these levels, should they want it. That is why, starting Saturday 7th April from 5pm - 6pm, we are starting to put on a land training session before the normal 6pm swim session. All those attending will need to have adequate clothing for doing this, so shorts, T-shirts, trainers etc, over the top of their swimming costumes. This will enable a quick transition from the land training to getting in the pool for the swim. There is no charge for this extra session and it is not compulsory, however we would say that if you can attend, it will benefit your overall swimming performance. So please do try to attend when you can. It is also something that you can take away and do at home in addition. The only piece of actual equipment that you will need for these sessions, is a skipping rope.
We are aware that we also have a sizeable group of younger swimmers, 8 – 11 yrs, and parents who may not know what is involved in competitive swimming, what the difference is between that and swimming in club galas. To assist in giving you all guidance in this area, we will be hosting a Parents Q&A session in the not too distant future, so please keep a look out on our Facebook and website.
We are really excited for what the future holds for our club and what our swimmers could achieve. It is a journey, but we can do it.
If you have any questions, please email us direct at radcliffeswimclub@gmail.com and we will get back to you asap.
